The course is dedicated to those who want to experience the artist book segment in order to create a unique book or limited series. In this approach, emphasis is placed on manual work involving mixed techniques such as drawing, illustration, collage, typography, engraving. Depending on the type of project developed by each learner, manual work can be complemented by digital processing. Students are encouraged to come with a laptop or tablet, as well as any other materials that are useful to them. All works are handmade in the workshop: pencils, ink, watercolor, paper, cardboard, etc. This course targets learners who already have a minimal experience in drawing and graphics, because they do not refer to learning working techniques, but to manipulating them for the purpose of making an artist’s book. The focus of the exercise refers to the conceptual development of the project, to the transfer of the text into symbols and to modern representations of classical themes. The artist’s book is useful for those who work on portfolios for admission to art or design faculties, those who want to get in touch with book making, and those who aspire to develop the conceptual side of work in the Illustration / Text segment.
